Jake retires from professional cycling to pursue a career in the food business.
Together, we open Kim and Jake's Cakes, a boutique cake shop and bakery in Boulder, Colorado.
Our son, August, is born 5 months later!
Jake is diagnosed as celiac.
Our bakery goes gluten-free (but no one could tell because everything still tasted delicious!).
We get rave reviews from local gluten-free customers who are finally able to enjoy a product that tastes like real bread again.

Local fine dining restaurants in Boulder, including The Kitchen, Arcana and Fresh Thymes, order our bread. Fine dining restaurants begin calling for our nationally recognized baked goods, and we add foodservice to our portfolio.
Kim and Jake's Gluten-Free achieves national distribution.
