New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp

This is Kim’s family recipe and one of the things that helped me fall in love with her!

Here’s what you need:

  • 3 lb head, shell, and tail on Shrimp
  • 4 sprigs fresh Rosemary (dried will do, about 2 – 3 teaspoons)
  • 1 sprig fresh or 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 4 oz butter (or olive oil, or a combo of both)
  • ½ tsp celery salt
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt, black pepper, cayenne (to taste)
  • 1/3 cup gluten free Worcestershire sauce

There are a lot of options and variations out there but this is how we do it:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  2. In a large roasting pan add the shrimp.

  3. In a medium sauce pot on medium heat add the butter and melt (or the oil and bring up to temp).  To this add all the other ingredients but be careful that the butter is not to hot so the herbs don’t fry and the Worcestershire doesn’t splatter.  Basically you just want to get all these items to mingle and combine their flavors.  Pour this mix over the top of the shrimp and spoon around to coat evenly.

  4. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes stirring occasionally to coat and bake shrimp evenly.  They are done when all the shrimp are pink.

  5. Peel and eat and mop up that broth with some bread!  It’s one of the best meals of all time.
