Classic Bread Pudding

What you need:

  • 2/3 cup cream                                                 

  • 1 1/3 cup milk

  • 1/3 cup butter

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla

  • 1/3 cup white sugar

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 lb bread

  • 1/3 cup bourbon

  • 1 tsp clove

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree

  • 3/4 cup raisins

 

Here's how to get it done:

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. Whisk milk, cream, butter, sugar, vanilla, raisins, and spices in a saucepan over medium heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, remove from heat

  3. Into large bowl coarsely chop bread into 1 inch chunks, set aside

  4. Crack eggs and whisk until whites and yolks are fully mixed

  5. Add bourbon and pumpkin puree to milk mixture, whisk to fully incorporate

  6. Slowly add eggs to milk mixture whisking quickly so the eggs don't cook.

  7. Pour milk mixture over bread and stir with large spoon to coat

  8. Scoop or pour the contents of bowl into a oil or buttered 10 x 12 inch pan (or similar size)

  9. Bake 35 minutes or until the center is set but not firm
